1 workshop and 3
lectures in Croatia
We spoke in Zagreb, Split & gave a workshop for Bruketa & Zinic
The workshop we gave at Bruketa-Žinić in Zagreb consisted out of a series of drawing exercises focused on typographic diversity and content development.
Drawing Exercise #1:
“There is no wrong, right?”
In this exercise, we asked each participant to write down the word ‘Right’ with the hand they usually write with, and the word ‘Wrong’ with the opposite hand. Drawing Exercise #2: “Helvetica”
In this formal exercise, each participant had 20 minutes to draw the word ‘Helvetica’ in Helvetica, without having visual references to the actual typeface at hand. Drawing Exercise #3: “Groups & Representation”
Each participant was asked to team up with a partner, and work with a randomly chosen, yet highly loaded, noun, i.e., robot, God, tradition, or adjective, i.e., pop, analog, digital, and represent this word by visualizing its meaning. Drawing Exercise #4: “Remix, Sample & Integrate”
In this final exercise, all participants were asked to integrate the results of the previous step with that of another group, resulting in the creation of new content, compositions, imagery, narratives and typographic experimentation.
